BP Pulse has joined ChargeHub’s Passport Hub, adding more than 850 charging points across over 95 locations to the North American roaming network. The integration lets electric vehicle drivers find, access and pay for charging at BP Pulse sites through the ChargeHub app.
The chargers will also be available to users of other e-mobility service providers and automakers connected to Passport Hub. Passport Hub is ChargeHub’s roaming platform, designed to link charging networks with mobility providers and vehicle manufacturers so drivers can use existing apps and services across multiple networks instead of registering separately with each charge point operator.
For BP Pulse, the agreement extends the reach of its North American network by making its infrastructure available through more third-party platforms. ChargeHub adds another charging network to its roaming ecosystem. The companies did not specify how many of the 850 points are rapid or ultra-rapid chargers, or whether all 850 are available through every Passport Hub partner.
Sujay Sharma, BP Pulse’s vice president of EV charging in the US, said the partnership expands access to the BP Pulse network through trusted roaming partners. He added that charging networks working better together benefits the EV ecosystem and is an important step toward accelerating EV adoption.
Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, said a network choosing to connect through Passport Hub signals that the hub model has become the way roaming is done in North America. Because it is a hub, he said, the impact goes beyond the ChargeHub app: e-mobility service providers and automakers in the ecosystem can offer drivers access to BP Pulse fast chargers through connections they already have. When one major network joins, the whole ecosystem improves at once, he said.
